Facilitating Enabling Environment for Development, Uptake and Adoption of Hybrid Rice
AHyRA members will linked to different digital tools such as Samawati and aWhere to improve efficiency of hybrid rice development, uptake, and adoption. This will help in prediction of hybrid seed production environments, provide good agricultural practices, agricultural input supply among others.
AHyRA is proactively addressing policy and regulatory obstacles to technology access for all stakeholders across the rice value chain from research, production, processing to marketing. In addition, AHyRA is building support for availability and adoption of hybrid rice technology at all levels of political leadership and farming communities by aligning with African institutions as well as governments and non-state actors through AATF to champion the creation of a functional policy and regulatory environment.
In addition, AHyRA is leveraging on AATF’s work under the auspice of the AfDB’s Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) programme, towards enhancing productivity and efficiency in the Rice value chain through a review of the value chain from policy perspectives in selected African countries.
